J. Alan Diehl, PhD
Location: Hollings Cancer Center 712F
Dr. Diehl is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Associate Director for Basic Science in the Hollings Cancer Center and holds the Smart State Chair of Lipids and Cancer Biology. His research interests focus on unraveling the mysteries of neoplastic growth with the ultimate goal of defining novel therapeutic opportunities.
Dr. Diehl has a long-standing interest in the regulation of cell division. He has made seminal contributions to our understanding of how dysregulation of cell division directly contributes to cancerous growth. Additional research efforts focus on how tumor cells survive in a harsh tumor environment. Dr Diehl's laboratory utilizes cutting edge technology including genomics, animal models and proteomics to interrogate these pathways and define the molecular underpinnings of tumor development. In his role as Associate Director for Basic Science, Dr. Diehl will focus on integrating basic science discoveries with clinical efforts to facilitate the development of new and exciting cancer therapies.
