From Wake Forest University to the University of California, San Francisco, to Washington University in St. Louis, Anita Harrison, MPA, has worked with cancer centers that have achieved the prestigious National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation. In her role, she works closely with Dr. Andrew S. Kraft, Hollings director, and senior leadership to build the infrastructure crucial to Hollings receiving NCI designation in 2009 as well as the effort to achieve the NCI’s Comprehensive Cancer Center status. In addition, she oversees initiatives to ensure that the HCC is leading a statewide effort in decreasing the mortality associated with cancer. This is done by augmenting community outreach, working with MUSC hospital and clinical administration to identify ways to improve patient care, strengthening research and professional education, and overseeing the Hollings administrative staff.
