Greetings to you from the Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) at the Medical University of South Carolina. I have been working diligently with research, physician and community leaders from MUSC, South Carolina, and other national cancer programs to ensure HCC has the infrastructure and resources to conduct cutting-edge research and provide accessible care to all South Carolinians. We have recruited renowned specialists and scientists, completed a significant expansion to our building, secured funding for a new Drug Discovery Building, dramatically increased our National Cancer Institute research funding, launched a statewide clinical trials network, and introduced the first mobile health unit with digital mammography to rural South Carolina counties. We also secured MUSC's first National Institutes of Health post-doctoral training grant to support young investigators interested in new anticancer drugs. These are just a few of the outstanding milestones we've reached, and we hope our web site provides easy access to more information about our plans.
I promise the citizens of South Carolina we will persevere in developing Hollings Cancer Center into the state's best resource -- and one of the nation's best centers -- for developing new knowledge about cancer and translating that knowledge into effective prevention and treatment. I hope you will not hesitate to contact me or any of the other dedicated faculty and staff here if we can serve you. Andrew S. Kraft, M.D. Director, Hollings Cancer Center William H. Folk, MD Chair in Experimental Oncology
