Hollings Cancer Center is the largest research-based cancer center in South Carolina, winning $12.1 million in nationally competitive funding from the National Cancer Institute and receiving $25 million from other federal and foundation resources. To continue this level of active research and to continue competing on the national funding scene, we need to provide state-of-the-art laboratory space and highly specialized equipment for cancer researchers. We also need to provide seed funds for promising research projects. Seed funding allows researchers the opportunity to expand a novel idea and acquire the data necessary to prove their case for national funding. |
