Thank you
for your support of
Hollings Cancer Center!

There are many ways to give to the Hollings Cancer Center. The most common ways are listed below; please click on the links below for more information. If you don't see the method of giving you're interested in, please don't give up. Just contact us, and we'll help you design a gifting method we're sure will satisfy you.

Unrestricted Gifts

Without a doubt, an unrestricted gift is the single best way to help the Hollings Cancer Center.

The Hollings Cancer Center is a complex organization with a large number and variety of support needs. Although directed giving is always helpful and appreciated, an unrestricted gift allows the Center, rather than the donor, to direct the gift in ways that the Center feels are in its best interests. The gift can be used immediately or it can be invested, using the proceeds over time.

Basically, an unrestricted gift provides the Center maximum flexibility in leveraging your generosity to support the Center's overall mission and vision.

For more information on how to give, please contact the HCC Office of Development or make a gift online.

Naming Opportunities

Gifts of Stocks & Securities

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Foundation welcomes gifts of stock. With a stock gift, the donor enjoys a tax deduction for the full value of the stock based on the average of the high and low prices for which the stock is selling on the day it is given to the MUSC Foundation.

There are three easy ways to give stock to the Foundation:

  • If the donor’s broker holds the certificates, he/she may call Henry Ravenel, Jr. or F. John Herrmann at Raymond James & Associates at (843) 853-2797 to make a direct stock transfer. The Foundation’s Raymond James & Associates account number is 85734498, and the DTC number is 0725. The Foundation's tax identification number is 57-6028985. The donor may also follow this procedure with a broker of choice where an MUSC Foundation account can be established, if none exists.
  • The donor’s broker may call the MUSC Foundation at 843-792-3250 for instructions on how to sell the stock and forward the proceeds. The broker should provide the Foundation with the donor’s name and the purpose of the gift.
  • If the donor holds the certificates, the unassigned certificates should be sent by registered mail to:

Chief Executive Officer
The Medical University of South Carolina Foundation
18 Bee Street
P.O. Box 250450
Charleston, SC 29425

A stock power form should be signed (but not otherwise filled out) and mailed in a separate envelope to the Foundation at the above address.

It is always helpful for the donor to call the Foundation Office to advise that a stock gift is on its way. This alerts the Foundation to watch for the gift and assures it will be credited in a timely manner.

If you have any questions, please contact the HCC Office of Development.

Matching Gifts

Make your support count even more with a matching gift!

Many employers have matching gift programs that could double or even triple your gift to the Hollings Cancer Center. If you don't know whether your company has a matching gift program for charitable gifts, we urge you to find out — or ask us to help you find out. In some cases, a spouse's company will also match your gift to the Hollings Cancer Center.

The forms to request that your company match your gift to the Hollings Cancer Center are usually available from your company's Human Resources Department or may even be available online on your company's Web site. Usually, there is a portion for you to fill in and a portion for us to fill in. Let us know if we can help!

Planned Gifts

A planned gift to the Hollings Cancer Center — a gift that anticipates the donor's future circumstances and is often made as part of retirement or estate planning — can make extraordinary statements during the donor's life and afterwards.

Planned gifts can be designed in a wide variety of ways, including directly willed gifts of money or securities, life insurance beneficiary designations, disposal of real estate and tangible property, endowments, and trusts.

Your planned gift can be unrestricted or restricted. Unrestricted gifts provide the Center maximum flexibility in leveraging your generosity in support of the Center's overall mission and vision.

Contact the Office of Planned Giving at 843-792-2236.
