Over the past fourteen years, the main goal of this annual golf tournament has been to raise funds to help the Hollings Cancer Center become a designated cancer center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). We are honored to announce that in March of 2009, the Hollings Cancer Center was able to reach this long-standing goal and was named a NCI-designated cancer center.

What NCI-Designation Means:

• Recognition that HCC is among the top 65 centers in the nation in research
• The latest discoveries for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer are happening here
• Additional financial support for research in our fight against cancer
• Patients do not need to leave South Carolina for new cancer treatments
• Enhanced ability to recruit distinguished researchers and clinical leaders
