First Floor: WELCOME PAVILION ($750,000)
The Welcome Pavilion is the main entrance to the new Hollings Cancer Center facility and the patient/visitor’s lobby. The entrance features a covered drop-off area which protects patients from the elements. Inside the entrance is the main patient and visitors’ lobby. The lobby sets the tone for a warm and welcoming visit while also ensuring that patients and visitors are directed to their appropriate area of need. A portrait of Senator Hollings will be featured in the lobby along with the commissioned artwork of lowcountry artist Grainger McKoy.

First Floor: AUDITORIUM/CONFERENCE CENTER ($750,000)
The Conference Center will be located on the main entrance walkway of the new facility, next to the Appearance Shop, and on the way to the Pearlstine Healing Garden. This high-profile, centrally located area of the new facility will feature state of the art technology and will be utilized daily by faculty, staff and patients. The Conference Center will seat more than 100 people and will be used as a major conference center for in-house multi-disciplinary clinical team meetings, research presentations, professional conferences, public education, support group gatherings and special events. As the largest multi-purpose room in the new facility, it will essentially be a hub for interaction and the only space available for large gatherings. A small kitchen is located just off to the side to allow for catering needs. Additionally, Hollings Cancer Center’s newly commissioned donor wall recognizing contributor’s to Hollings Cancer Center will be featured just outside the main entrance to the Conference Center.

First Floor: RADIATION THERAPY SUITE ($500,000)
Located off of the main lobby, the Radiation Therapy Suite is a new facility to support this critical treatment program. Radiation therapy is a major cancer treatment modality. Most patients are treated daily for several weeks to months and will be regular visitors to this area. The area includes a waiting and dressing rooms, a treatment planning area with high tech computers and scanner, and two linear accelerator treatment machines that deliver the radiation to the patient.

First Floor: CHAPEL/MEDITATION ROOM ($250,000)
During a time of extreme stress and uncertainty, a place to reflect is essential. The Chapel/Meditation Room will serve as a nondenominational room for patients and their families as well as for support groups. It will be located in a quiet space near the Pearlstine Healing Garden and will be beautifully decorated in calming colors and comforting furnishings.

First Floor: THE LOOKING GLASS/APPEARANCE CENTER ($250,000)
One of the most important and supportive components of the expanded facility will be the Looking Glass, an appearance center for the purchase of prosthesis, wigs, scarves, clothing and other personal items that are offered to cancer patients. The Looking Glass will be located on the first floor and will provide cancer patients with an opportunity to address the physical changes that may come with their treatment. Staffed by volunteers, the Looking Glass is a special place and essential part of the overall treatment and well-being of our patients.

Second Floor: MULTIDISCIPLINARY CLINICAL SUITES (Two at $500,000 each)
The Multidisciplinary Clinical Suites are the main areas of patient diagnosis and treatment. These suites are designed to provide flexibility for clinicians to see patients as well as providing patients with the opportunity to meet all their needs during one visit. Unique to Hollings Cancer Center, patients will be seen by all heath care professionals involved in their treatment during one visit. If Tuesday, is breast cancer clinic, the medical oncologist, surgeon, radiation therapist, etc., will be present to review a patient’s case. The next day will provide the same type of opportunity for lung cancer patients. This multidisciplinary approach is not only hugely satisfying to patients, but also allows Hollings Cancer Center to use space well.

Second Floor: BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT SUITE ($250,000)
The Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Suite supports the outpatient clinical care of patients who are being treated with a bone marrow transplant. This patient group needs to be isolated from the general population because they are at risk for infection and they have more frequent visits to the center.

Second Floor: CLINICAL TRIALS SUITE ($250,000)
Clinical research and data gathering are critical to finding new treatments for cancer and giving cancer patients access to cutting edge discoveries. The Clinical Trials Suite supports the administrative activities of the staff following patients from the time of their diagnosis until they are cured, in remission, or pass away. Also housed in this space are people involved in the epidemiology of cancer or the study of the disease and discoveries of ways to control or prevent the disease.

Second Floor: PHARMACY ($100,000)
The pharmacy provides three major services to the cancer center – 1) a registered pharmacist who prepares the chemotherapy and other supportive care drugs delivered by the nurses in the infusion center, 2) the pharmacy provides outpatients prescription filling to patients as they wait, and 3) the pharmacists provide on site consultation to the faculty and staff as they treat patients.

Second Floor: EXAM ROOMS (13 at $25,000 each)
Making patients as comfortable as possible as they battle their cancer supports our mission – to foster prevention and healing of cancer through discovery and understanding. In our expanded facility, there will be 56 patient examination rooms located on the second and third floors that will allow patients to receive comprehensive cancer care in a comfortable environment. Each room will be furnished to ensure that patients with limited energy and mobility are accommodated. In addition, the rooms will accommodate not only our patients, but also family members and/or caregivers.

Second Floor: BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT EXAM ROOMS (Six at $25,000 each)
The outpatient bone marrow transplant program at Hollings Cancer Center is our strength. Patients do better when they can come in for treatment and return home or to their hotel in the evening. It keeps some sort of normalcy to life. While they are being treated, it is important that patients have private infusion rooms with dedicated infusion nurses. This allows patients the opportunity to receive their treatment in a positive environment surrounded by their support groups and allows flexibility in how they spend the time. Some days may be spent watching television and some days may require the support of medical professionals. These rooms would be utilized all day every day every week and would allow patients and their family/caregiver a private environment for treatment.

Third Floor: MULTIDISCIPLINARY CLINICAL SUITE ($500,000)

Third Floor: CLINICAL TRIALS SUITE ($250,000)

Third Floor: HEAD AND NECK EXAM ROOMS (Two at $50,000 each)
In addition to the basic requirements for an exam room, head and neck cancer patients require more specialized equipment due to problems in areas not typically visible to the clinician. Specifically, in-room state-of-the-art technology will allow clinicians to view endoscopic examinations inside the ear, nose, sinuses, throat, voice box and esophagus. This allows digital recording software to playback these examinations to educate patients, families and other health care providers on the disease and functional outcomes. Additionally, one of these rooms will focus on the speaking and swallowing needs to ensure full rehabilitation of head and neck cancer patients. It is expected that these rooms will become the premier head and neck cancer examination areas in the United States.

Third Floor: EXAM ROOMS (16 at $25,000 each)

Fifth Floor: RESEARCH LABORATORY ROOMS (Five at $50,000 each)
Research laboratory space is highly technical and able to support complex cancer research. Benched areas and equipment in general supports the activities of scientists working with tumors and new treatment agents. Laboratories are designed generically and are turn-key ready for researchers to move in and customize with specialty equipment for their particular research.

Sixth Floor: RESEARCH LABORATORY ROOMS (Five at $50,000 each)

Seventh Floor: RESEARCH LABORATORY ROOMS (Five at $50,000 each)
