The Urological Cancer Facility at Hollings Cancer Center will be dedicated to the study of urological cancers (bladder, kidney, prostate, and testicular). This facility will be an ideal environment in which basic scientists will work closely with clinicians in translating research as they search for answers, better treatments and longer, fuller lives for patients diagnosed or at risk for urological cancers. |
The goals of the Urological Cancer Facility are to provide a dedicated environment where researchers and clinicians work together to discover the fundamental biological processes underlying urological cancers; to translate those discoveries into new ideas for prevention, diagnosis and treatment; to incorporate those ideas into medical practice through rigorous clinical trials; to understand and impact on cancer disparities, to provide patients with the best in multidisciplinary care; and to disseminate new information as a resource for patients, families and physicians in South Carolina. The Urological Cancer Facility at Hollings Cancer Center will attract leading physicians and researchers while allowing us to retain and build on our current expertise. The first floor will be dedicated to outpatient treatment. The second floor will be dedicated to cancer disparities and genetics research to understand the disproportionate amount of African American’s dying from cancer and what our family medical history means to all of us and our risk of cancer. The third and fourth floors will be dedicated laboratory space and will demonstrate further MUSC’s institutional commitment, which is an essential element when applying for National Cancer Institute designation. While the estimated total construction of the Urological Cancer Facility at Hollings Cancer Center is estimated in excess of $25,000,000, Hollings Cancer Center is seeking to raise $10,000,000 to meet its needs within this facility. A gift of $5,000,000 would be considered by the Medical University of South Carolina Board of Trustees for exclusive naming rights. Additional opportunities include: NAMING OPPORTUNITIES Space Contribution Number Available Clinical Floor $2,500,000 (2) Research Floor $2,500,000 (2) Endowed Chairs $1,000,000+ (4) Research Laboratory $375,000 (8) Conference Room $150,000 (2) Examination Room $25,000 (20) Clinical/Research Office $10,000 (12) For more information, please contact Rachael D. Thank you for your interest. *The visual design above is conceptual and actual design will begin when one-half of the total funds needed are raised. This building will also be in partnership with MUSC and could be expanded as needed.
