GOURMET AND GRAPES CULINARY EVENT RAISES OVER $140,000 FOR CANCER RESEARCH AT HOLLINGS

Fifth Annual Gourmet and Grapes Weekend set for February 8-10, 2013

Kiawah Island, S.C.  – Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina is pleased to announce that the fourth-annual Gourmet and Grapes raised more than $140,000 to help establish a Distinguished Endowed Chair in Prostate Cancer.  The funds raised will allow the university to enhance basic and clinical science research efforts, continue ongoing clinical trials and develop new and novel projects in combination with the basic research departments at MUSC, eventually leading to breakthrough therapies in urologic oncology.

Gourmet and Grapes, hosted by the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort on May 4-6, 2012, included a guest chef dinner featuring James Beard Award winner Chef Sean Brock. Also featured at the black-tie dinner were Chef Katie Button of Cúrate in Asheville, Chefs Robert Wysong and Lawrence Brubaker of the Sanctuary, and Chef Nathan Thurston of Stars. The culinary weekend also included an interactive wine tour and culinary luncheon, wine odyssey gala, and a farewell brunch on the Sanctuary Grand Lawn.

The Fifth Annual Gourmet and Grapes is scheduled for February 8-10, 2013. This signature event will combine local and national culinary talent coupled with award-winning wineries, aiming to raise funds and awareness that will support research and patient programs Hollings.
