Tew, PhD, D.Sc., Named Fellow by American Association for the Advancement of Science for Contributions to Cancer Drug Discovery Dr. Tew is Chairman of MUSC’s Department of Cell and Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics November 20, 2007, Charleston, SC – Kenneth D. Tew, Ph.D, D.Sc., has been awarded the distinction of Fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for distinguished contributions to the field of cancer drug discovery and development. Dr. Tew was one of only two South Carolina researchers to receive the honor. Dr. Tew is the Chairman of MUSC’s Department of Cell and Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and holds the John C. West Center of Economic Excellence Endowed Chair in Cancer Research. Dr. Tew joined MUSC in 2004. “I am delighted to be recognized by my peers and hope that this reflects well on the South Carolina Centers of Excellence Program – the value of which in enhancing the local science and technology environment should be emphasized.” The distinction of Fellow is given to those believed by their peers in the AAAS as advancing applications deemed scientifically or socially distinguished. The AAAS is the world’s largest general scientific society. It includes some 262 affiliated societies and serves 10 million members.
