The scientific focus of the Cancer Immunology (CI) Program is two fold: to understand the fundamental mechanisms of immune tolerance that is a critical roadblock for cancer immunotherapy, and to identify innovative immunological strategies that can be used to effectively prevent and eliminate malignancies.

The CI program benefits from a strong institutional commitment in translational research and the state-of-the-art Center for Cellular Therapy for manufacturing GMP-grade cellular products for cancer immunotherapy in patients.

The scientific themes in the CI program include:

  • Determination of mechanisms of immune tolerance
  • Elucidation of the roles and mechanisms of inflammation and innate immunity in cancer
  • Identification and development of novel cancer immunotherapeutic strategies
