In South Carolina, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths. That means people in our state die from colon cancer at a higher rate than in the nation as a whole. South Carolina also has one of the highest pancreatic cancer rates in the nation. Fortunately, recent advances in screening, diagnostics and treatment at Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) are helping to reverse these trends and replace them with hope for the future. Currently, Hollings Cancer Center offers clinical trials for every stage of the most common gastrointestinal malignancies. We are expanding our partners throughout South Carolina to enable patients throughout the state to participate in our clinical trials closer to their homes.
