Comprehensive Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S. And of all skin cancers, melanoma is particularly serious and often life-threatening. The incidence of melanoma has increased every year since the 1970s and ranks among the top ten most common cancers in the country.

The Hollings Cancer Center's comprehensive melanoma and skin cancer program is the only one of its kind in South Carolina. Our program, based on a multidisciplinary team approach, is committed to enhancing the care of melanoma and skin cancer patients.

Our team includes experts in dermatology, surgical oncology, head and neck surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and pathology who collaborate to offer the most advanced melanoma and skin cancer care in South Carolina. This focus ensures that our patients receive the latest in innovative and minimally-invasive surgical procedures and cancer treatments for melanoma.

As part of the Hollings Cancer Center Comprehensive Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program, our mission is to enhance all facets of melanoma care including:

  • Enhanced patient care through the multidisciplinary approach
  • Community and patient education
  • Screening and prevention
  • Clinical and translational research
