Description:
The Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Facility is co-sponsored as a University Research Resources Facility, a Hollings Cancer Center Core Facility and a Shared Core Resource of the Center for Oral Health Research. The facility provides analytical flow cytometry services and sorting services which are essential for in vivo and in vitro experiments for many Hollings Cancer Center members. The facility and its operator(s) offer specialized services tailored for research analysis and which are not available from the clinical flow cytometry facility at MUSC.

Services:

The Flow Core and  Cell Sorting Shared Resource offers a wide range of services from access to routine flow cytometric analysis to expertise in high-speed cell sorting to the development of novel assays. Examples of assays available include, but are not limited to, the following: immunophenotyping, cell cycle analysis, DNA ploidy analysis, apoptosis, cell proliferation (BrdU incorporation), intracellular antigen/protein and membrane potential measurement, as well as cytokine detection (bead assay). High-speed cell sorting based on cell surface marker immunostaining and/or side-population staining is also available. The follow services are provided:

Measurement of:
    - User-Based (Unassisted) Flow Cytometric Analysis
    - Membrane Potential
    - Apoptosis
    - Cell Proliferation
    - Cell Cycle Distribution
    - Sorting/Immunophenotyping

Equipment:
- Becton Dickinson FACSAria Cell Sorter

- Dako MoFlo high-Spped Cell Sorter

- Becton Dickinson FACSCalibur Analytical Flow Cytometer

- CompuCyte iCys Research Imaging Cytometer
